International Polar Conference

The DGP International Polar Conference takes place every 2.5 years and offers a platform for interdisciplinary exchange on current topics in polar and high mountain research. The program includes lectures, poster presentations, and workshops. More information on the next conference can be found here.

The 29th International Polar Conference took place in Rauris, Austria, from 16 to 20 September 2024. Jointly organized by the Austrian Polar Research Institute (APRI) and the German Society for Polar Research (DGP) it has the motto Dynamic Poles and High Mountain Environments. The conference volume was published in the series Reports on Polar and Marine Research (volume 787/2024) and is available for download.

The 30th International Polar Conference will be held in Bremerhaven, from 22 to 26 February 2027. The Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research will be the local organizer.

Under the motto “Crossing Boundaries – Poles in Transformation,” the conference will bring together researchers from different disciplines to discuss environmental change in polar and high-mountain systems and its relevance for the 5th International Polar Year (2032/33).

The 1st circular can be downloaded here.

The 2nd circular will be published in April 2026.
